Program Overview
The Faculty of Medical technology offers International Short Training Programs; providingcontinuing education for international medical technology professionals in the
following areas:
1. Quality Management in Clinical Laboratories
2. Clinical Chemistry
3. Clinical Microscopy, including:
- Laboratory diagnosis of hematological disease
- Laboratory diagnosis for thalassemia
- Cytodiagnosis of CSF, effusion, urine
- Cytogenetics in the diagnostics of human genetic diseases and hematological malignancies
4. Diagnostic Parasitology
5. Clinical Bacteriology
6. Clinical Immunoserology
7. Cell Culture Techniques
8. Quality Control in Conventional Radiographic Equipment and Darkroom
9. Clinical Hematology
10. Clinical Cytology
Programs in other areas can be arranged upon request.
Aims and Objectives
The programs aims to:
1. Widen participants’ experiences and strengthen their skills in clinical laboratory science and allied health sciences.
2. Update students’ knowledge and hands-on practice in science and technology.
3. Share resources of teaching, learning and research in allied health sciences.
4. Provide qualified sites for human resource development in allied health sciences.

The Faculty of Medical Technology, Mahidol University is the first Medical Technology school in Thailand who has cooperated with the office of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Projects, the Royal Household Bureau; Thailand International Development Cooperation Agency since 2000 to initiate the training courses for Lao Medical and Radiological Technology personnel with the aim to assist and improve their knowledge and skills, and to provide opportunities for their exchange and cooperation with Thai counterparts in order to improve medical care, public health and the quality of life for the peoples of the two nations.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has continually visited Laos. Her Royal Highness had provided extensive support to several hospitals in the form of medical equipments and accessories. Her Royal Highness had foreseen the importance of the population’s health care in the country’s development. The development of medical and public health for the improving the population’s health requires skilled and knowledgeable health care professionals as well as state-of-the-art medical and public health equipments. In light of this, Her Royal Highness Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has bestowed upon Laos practical training and workshops on the use of medical and public health technological equipments through various training courses since 2000.
Objective
1) To increase the knowledge and skills of health care professionals from hospitals of various provinces of Laos on the analysis, diagnosis, treatment and drug usage.
2) To promote the exchange of ideas and experiences between health care professionals of Thai and Laos as well as encourage collaborative effort in development of medical and public health.
3) To improve the quality of life of the population.
