External Quality Assurance Programs (EQA)
In order to improve the quality of the laboratory, the Faculty of Medical Technology has developed the control materials for the laboratory standardization and the quality control system called “External Quality Assurance Program” since 1985. This program is the first quality assurance for medical laboratory in Thailand which aims to evaluate and improve the quality of the laboratories from Thailand and Asian Countries.
Presently, the Faculty offers up to 14 EQAS programs spanning 5 major areas, including 1) clinical chemistry, 2) clinical microscopy, 3) clinical immunology, 4) clinical bacteriology, and 5) clinical parasitology.
In addition, the number of laboratories participating in the EQAS program as provided by the Faculty has been rising continuously to over 3,000 laboratories across Thailand.
Clinical Microscopy

The program is divided into 3 sub-divisions.
a. Complete Blood Count (B-EQAM)
b. Cytohematology Proficiency Test (H-EQAM)
c. Urine Cytohematology Proficiency Test (UC-EQAM) UC-EQAM
Clinical Immunology
The External Quality Assessment Scheme In Clinical Immunology : EQAI
The program is divided into 2 sub-divisions.
a. EQAI : Syphilis serology
b. EQAI : Hepatitis B virus serology
Clinical Microbiology
The External Quality Assessment Scheme In Bacteriology : EQAB
The program is divided into 3 sub-divisions.
a. EQAB 8010: Gram stain
b. EQAB 8020: Acid fast bacilli stain
c. EQAB 81500: Bacteria identification and susceptibility testing
