The Department of Community Medical Technology was founded in 1979 (which was previously one of the sections in the Clinical Microbiology Department). The office is located on the 8th floor of the Medical Technology building within the compound of Siriraj hospital, Bangkok Noi, Bangkok.The department provides educational information regarding Parasitology for both undergraduate and graduate students. For research projects, we place much emphasis on the diseases caused by parasites, for example: malarial research.
The department's service unit located on the 4th floor of the out patient building provides a service for the hospital patients that includes the examination for parasites. Other than this, the department has joined the Community Medicine Unit in examining the clinical specimens from the patients who come for yearly check-ups, from both the private and public sector.
