Professor Dr. Daret K. St. Clair


Professor Dr. Daret K. St. Clair received her B.S. degree in radiological technology from the faculty of medical technology, Mahidol University. In 1984, she received her Ph.D. in radiation biology from University of Iowa, Iowa city USA and completed her postdoctoral training at University of Iowa and Harvard Medical School. She received several international special honors and awards including Young investigator Award (1982, 1983) from the University of Iowa, Excellence in research award (1995) from American heart association, Kentucky affiliate. Dr. St. Clair has devoted her career to understand the fundamental mechanisms of free radicals in normal tissue injury, cancer formation and treatment. The theme of her work leads to the unique outstanding research for developing the novel strategies for intervention and improvement of cancer treatment.  Her research works have been recognized by scientists around the world and her study in gene-radiotherapy was recognized for providing a potential major advance to the field of cancer treatment by ASTRO (1995) and the result from this study, published in cancer research, were also recognized as a key paper in the field of gene therapy in 1995.  Currently, Dr. St. Clair is a professor in Graduate center for Toxicology, University of Kentucky USA and her laboratory is now one of the most leading groups in the US country with particular focus on cancer research.
